Music education and performance experience extend far beyond the classroom. Pope Orchestra musicians are encouraged to participate in area symphonies and orchestras to further their abilities and gain valuable experience working with a variety of musicians, directors, and venues.

Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra (ASYO) – The Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra is an integral member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra family and a vigorous part of the cultural fabric of its community. The ASYO strives for national preeminence among youth orchestras, while cultivating the artistic growth and excellence of our members through enriching orchestral experiences and the mentoring of ASO musicians.
Buckhead Youth Orchestra (BYO) – The purpose of the Buckhead Youth Orchestra (BYO), established by Juan R. Ramirez and under the auspices of the Atlanta Virtuosi Foundation, Inc., is to provide an orchestral experience of pre-college and pre-professional caliber to talented young musicians selected by audition from the metro and outlying areas of Atlanta.
Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra (EYSO) – EYSO reinforces the pedagogy of school directors and private teachers, while providing additional performance opportunities and ensemble experience. The orchestra is open to string, wind and percussion musicians from 9th-12th grade; exceptions for younger players may be made at the discretion of the conductor.
The home of EYSO is the world-class Schwartz Center for Performing Arts on the Emory University campus; members are under the artistic direction of conductor Dr. Richard Prior and receive regular sectional instruction from Emory’s Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Artist Affiliates and other Atlanta professionals. The orchestra performs three concerts during the school year in the renowned Emerson Concert Hall.
Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) – Sponsors of the prestigious Georgia All State Orchestra, GMEA is a state affiliate of the Music Educators National Conference and is a comprehensive state-wide organization serving the needs of music educators at all levels.
Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO) – Founded in 2006, the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra is already the largest youth orchestra program in the southeast. The Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra and Chorus program encompasses two full orchestras, two string orchestras, two wind ensembles, a jazz ensemble, a percussion ensemble, a chamber music program and two youth chorus’.
Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra of Atlanta (MYSO) – The Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestras of Atlanta is a community-based youth orchestra founded to provide young students with an opportunity to continue their music education in a full orchestra setting, work directly with professional musicians, and perform in public.
The primary goal of MYSO of Atlanta is to further the music education and experiences of its members. Repertoire is specifically chosen by our conductors to challenge and broaden the scope of performance experience for our musicians.
